၂၃။ နာဂ၀ဂၢ Nagavaggo 象品
၃၂၀။ အဟံ နာေဂါ၀ သဂၤါေမ၊ စာပေတာ ပတိတံ သရံ။
အတိ၀ါက်ံ တိတိကၡိႆံ၊ ဒုႆီေလာ ဟိ ဗဟုဇၨေနာ။

၃၂၁။ ဒႏၲံ နယႏၲိ သမိတႎ၊ ဒႏၲံ ရာဇာဘိ႐ူဟတိ။
ဒေႏၲာ ေသေ႒ာ မႏုေႆသု၊ ေယာတိ၀ါက်ံ တိတိကၡတိ။

၃၂၂။ ၀ရမႆတရာ ဒႏၲာ၊ အာဇာနီယာ စ သိႏၶ၀ါ။
ကုဥၨရာ စ မဟာနာဂါ၊ အတၱဒေႏၲာ တေတာ ၀ရံ။

၃၂၀။ ဆင္ေျပာင္ႀကီးသည္ စစ္ေျမျပင္၌ ေလးမွ (မိမိအေပၚသို႔)က်ေရာက္လာေသာျမားကို မတုန္ မလႈပ္ခံသကဲ့သို႔ ငါဘုရားသည္ လြန္က်ဴးေစာ္ကားေသာ စကားကို သည္းခံအံ့၊ ေလာကီဘံုသား လူအမ်ားသည္ သီလမ႐ွိသည္သာတည္း။

၃၂၁။ ယဥ္ေက်းၿပီးေသာ ဆင္ျမင္းစသည္ကိုသာ လူစုလူေ၀း႐ွိရာ ပြဲသဘင္သို႔ေဆာင္ကုန္၏၊ ယဥ္ေက်းၿပီးေသာ ဆင္ျမင္းစသည္ကိုသာ မင္းသည္စီး၏၊ လြန္က်ဴးေစာ္ကားေသာစကားကို သည္းခံႏုိင္ေသာသူသည္ ယဥ္ေက်းၿပီးျဖစ္၍ လူတို႔တြင္ အျမတ္ဆံုး ျဖစ္၏။

၃၂၂။ အႆတိုရ္ျမင္းတို႔သည္ လည္းေကာင္း၊ အာဇာနည္ျမင္းတို႔သည္ လည္းေကာင္း၊ သိေႏၶာျမင္းတို႔သည္ လည္းေကာင္း၊ ကုဥၨရမည္ေသာ ဆင္ေျပာင္ႀကီးတို႔သည္ လည္းေကာင္း ယဥ္ေက်းကုန္မွသာလွ်င္ ျမတ္ကုန္၏၊ ကိုယ္ စိတ္ႏွစ္ပါးကို ဆံုးမယဥ္ေက်းၿပီးသူသည္ ထို ျမင္း ဆင္တို႔ထက္ လြန္ျမတ္၏။

320. Like an elephant in the battle endures the arrows shot from the bow, I, as the Buddha, will endure the abusive words as the majority of people are of poor virtue (immoral).

321. They take a tamed elephant or horse to the crowd (assembly); the King also mounts a tamed elephant or horse. Among people a tamed one is the best who can endure the abusive words.

322. Noble horses and mules are good if tamed, so also great elephants; but the person who tames himself is even better.

  attadanto tato varam.

၃၂၃။ ဤျပကေတ့ေသာ ဆင္ယာဥ္ ျမင္းယာဥ္တို႔ျဖင့္ မေရာက္ဖူးေသးေသာ နိဗၺာန္အရပ္သို႔ မေရာက္ႏုိင္သည္သာတည္း၊ ၀ိပႆနာအခိုက္ စကၡဳစေသာ ဣေႁႏၵတို႔ကို ဆံုးမသျဖင့္လည္းေကာင္း၊ မဂ္အခိုက္ မိမိစိတ္ကို ေကာင္းစြာဆံုးမသျဖင့္လည္းေကာင္း ယဥ္ေက်းၿပီးသူသည္သာ မေရာက္ဖူးေသးေသာ နိဗၺာန္အရပ္သို႔ မုခ်ေရာက္ႏုိင္၏။

323. It is not by these horses and elephants that one may not go to Nibbana. Only when practicing vipassana meditation or while in magga Samadhi one who already tamed by himself can reach Nibbana where untravelled before.

၃၂၄။ ဓနပါေလာ နာမ ကုဥၨေရာ၊ ကဋဳကေဘဒေနာ ဒုႏၷိ၀ါရေယာ။
ဗေဒၶါ ကဗဠံ န ဘုဥၨတိ၊ သုမရတိ နာဂ၀နႆ ကုဥၨေရာ။

၃၂၄။ ျပင္းထန္စြာ အမုန္ယစ္၍ ႏွိမ္နင္းရန္ခဲယဥ္းေသာ ဓနပါလမည္ေသာဆင္သည္ အဖဲြ႔အခ်ည္ ခံရသျဖင့္ အစားအစာကို မစားႏုိင္၊ ဆင္သည္ မိမိေနရာ ဂန္႔ေဂၚေတာကိုသာ ေအာက္ေမ့ေန၏။

324. The bull elephant named Danapala, in time of rut, being taken captive, is hard to control. It does not eat any food when bound; the elephant only remembers his elephant grove.

323 Na hi etehi yanehi,
  gaccheyya agatam disam,
  yathattana sudantena,
  danto dantena gacchati.

324 Dhanapalako nama kuñjaro,
  katukapabhedano dunnivarayo;
  baddho kabalam na bhuñjati,
  sumarati nagavanassa kuñjaro.

  徹底使辛辣的[體液][2]迸裂、應難被制止的象,名叫財的守護者;已被繫縛的象不受用一口糧食,對象林念。

၃၂၅။ ထိုင္းမႈိင္းငိုက္မ်ဥ္းကာအိပ္လ်က္ အစားႀကီးေသာ ၀က္ႀကီးကဲ့သို႔ တလူးလူး တလဲလဲ အိပ္ေလ့႐ွိသည့္ ပညာႏု႔ံသူသည္ (အနိစၥ အစ႐ွိေသာ လကၡဏာတို႔ကို မဆင္ျခင္ႏုိင္ေသာေၾကာင့္) အဖန္ဖန္တလဲလဲ အမိ၀မ္း၌ ပဋိသေႏၶေနရ၏။

325. When a person is lazy and becomes a great eater who sleeps and rolls like a big hog can't concentrate in mindfulness, gets the rebirth again and again.

၃၂၆။ ဣဒံ ပုေရ စိတၱမစာရိ စာရိကံ၊ ေယနိစၧကံ ယတၳကာမံ ယထာသုခံ။
တဒဇၨဟံ နိဂၢေဟႆာမိ ေယာနိေသာ၊ ဟတၳိပၸဘိႏၷံ ၀ိယ အကၤုသဂၢေဟာ။

၃၂၆။ ဤစိတ္သည္ ေ႐ွးအခါက လိုရာအာ႐ုံကို လိုက္စားလ်က္ အလို႐ွိတိုင္း ေကာင္းႏုိးရာရာ လွည့္လည္က်က္စား ခဲ့ေလၿပီ၊ ခြၽန္းကိုင္ေသာ ဆင္ထိန္းသည္ အမုန္ယစ္ေသာဆင္ကို ႏွိပ္ဘိ သကဲ့သို႔ ငါသည္ ယခုထိုစိတ္ကို အသင့္အတင့္ ႏွလံုးသြင္းျခင္းျဖင့္ ႏွိပ္ေပအံ့။

326. My mind was used to be wandering about where it wished, where it wanted, where it pleased; now I will control it by practicing mindfulness, like the holder of the hook controls an elephant in rut.

  niddayita samparivattasayi,
  mahavaraho va nivapaputtho,
  punappunam gabbham upeti mando.

  hatthippabhinnam viya avkusaggaho.

၃၂၇။ မေမ့မေလ်ာ့ေသာ အပၸမာဒတရား၌ ေမြ႔ေလ်ာ္ၾကကုန္ေလာ့၊ မိမိစိတ္ကို ေစာင့္ေ႐ွာက္ၾကကုန္ေလာ့၊ ညြန္၌ ကြၽံနစ္ေသာဆင္သည္ မိမိကိုယ္ကို ညြန္ေပ်ာင္းမွထုတ္သကဲ့သို႔ သင္တို႔သည္ ကိေလသာညြန္ေပ်ာင္းမွ မိမိကိုယ္ကို ထုတ္ႏုတ္ၾကကုန္ေလာ့။

327. Practice in mindfulness and take the pleasure. Guard well your mind. Lift yourself up out of the mental defilements – as would an elephant draws himself out of a muddy swamp.

၃၂၈။ သေစ လေဘထ နိပကံ သဟာယံ၊ သဒၶႎစရံ သာဓု၀ိဟာရိဓီရံ။
အဘိဘုယ် သဗၺာနိ ပရိႆယာနိ၊ စေရယ် ေတနတၱမေနာ သတီမာ။

၃၂၉။ ေနာ ေစ လေဘထ နိပကံ သဟာယံ၊ သဒၶႎစရံ သာဓု၀ိဟာရိဓီရံ။
ရာဇာ၀ ရ႒ံ ၀ိဇိတံ ပဟာယ၊ ဧေကာ စေရ မာတဂၤရေည၀ နာေဂါ။

၃၃၀။ ဧကႆ စရိတံ ေသေယ်ာ၊ နတၳိ ဗာေလ သဟာယတာ။
ဧေကာ စေရ န စ ပါပါနိ ကယိရာ၊ အေပၸါႆုေကၠာ မာတဂၤရေည၀ နာေဂါ။


၃၂၈။ ပညာရင့္၍ ေကာင္းစြာေနထိုင္ေလ့႐ွိေသာ တည္ၾကည္ေသာ အတူက်င့္ေဖာ္ ပညာ႐ွိ အေဆြခင္ပြန္းကို အကယ္၍ရခဲ့မူ ထိုအေဆြခင္ပြန္းႏွင့္ အတူတကြ ေဘးရန္အားလံုးတို႔ကို ႏွိပ္နင္းလ်က္ ၀မ္းေျမာက္၀မ္းသာ သတိ႐ွိစြာ က်င့္ရာ၏။

၃၂၉။ ပညာရင့္၍ ေကာင္းစြာေနထိုင္ေလ့႐ွိေသာ တည္ၾကည္ေသာ အတူက်င့္ေဖာ္ပညာ႐ွိ အေဆြခင္ပြန္းကို အကယ္၍မရခဲ့မူ၊ မင္းသည္ ႏုိင္ျပီးေသာတိုင္းျပည္ကိုစြန္႔၍ ထြက္သကဲ့သို႔ လည္းေကာင္း၊ မာတဂၤဆင္မင္းသည္ ေတာ၌တစ္ေကာင္တည္း လွည့္လည္သကဲ့သို႔ လည္းေကာင္း တစ္ေယာက္တည္း က်င့္ရာ၏။

၃၃၀။ တစ္ေယာက္တည္း က်င့္ျခင္းသည္ ျမတ္၏၊ လူမိုက္၌ အေဆြခင္ပြန္း အျဖစ္မ်ဳိးသည္ မ႐ွိ၊ မာတဂၤဆင္မင္းသည္ ေတာ၌တစ္ေကာင္တည္း ေၾကာင့္ၾကမဲ့ လွည့္လည္သကဲ့သို႔ တစ္ေယာက္တည္း ေၾကာင့္ၾကမဲ့ က်င့္ရာ၏၊ မေကာင္းမႈတို႔ကို မျပဳရာ။

328. If you find a wise man in your life who is intelligent, upright and steadfast, you may walk through your life with that person joyfully and mindfully overcoming all dangers.

329. If it is hard to find a wise man in your life who is upright and steadfast to walk with, travel alone like a King abandoning a conquered land or like the Matanga elephant roaming in the forest.

330. It is better in life to go alone rather than to have a bad person as a companion. Let go alone without attachments, commit no sins like the Matanga elephant alone in the forest.

327 Appamadarata hotha,
  sacittam anurakkhatha,
  dugga uddharath’ attanam,
  pavke sanno va kuñjaro.

သုေခါ ပညာယ ပဋိလာေဘာ၊ ပါပါနံ အကရဏံ သုခံ။


၃၃၁။ အေဆြခင္ပြန္း ႐ွိျခင္းသည္ အေရးကိစၥ ေပၚေပါက္လာေသာအခါ ခ်မ္းသာ၏၊ ရရသမွ်ေသာ ပစၥည္းဥစၥာျဖင့္ ေရာင့္ရဲျခင္းသည္ ခ်မ္းသာ၏၊ ကုသိုလ္ေကာင္းမႈ ႐ွိျခင္းသည္ အသက္ကုန္ခါနီး၌ ခ်မ္းသာ၏၊ ဆင္းရဲအလံုးစံုကို ပယ္ျခင္းသည္ ခ်မ္းသာ၏။

၃၃၂။ ေလာက၌ အမိကို ျပဳစုလုပ္ေကြၽးျခင္းသည္ ခ်မ္းသာေၾကာင္းျဖစ္၏၊ ထို႔ျပင္ အဖကို ျပဳစုလုပ္ေကြၽးျခင္းသည္ ခ်မ္းသာေၾကာင္းျဖစ္၏၊ ေလာက၌ ရဟန္းတို႔ကို ျပဳစုလုပ္ေကြၽးျခင္းသည္ ခ်မ္းသာေၾကာင္းျဖစ္၏၊ ထို႔ျပင္ မေကာင္းမႈမွ အပျပဳၿပီးသူ ဘုရား ပေစၥကဗုဒၶါ ရဟႏၲာတို႔ကို ျပဳစုလုပ္ေကြၽးျခင္းသည္ ခ်မ္းသာေၾကာင္းျဖစ္၏။

၃၃၃။ သီလ႐ွိျခင္းသည္ အိုသည့္တိုင္ေအာင္ ခ်မ္းသာ၏၊ သဒၶါတရား တည္တံ့ခိုင္ျမဲျခင္းသည္ ခ်မ္းသာ၏၊ ပညာကိုရျခင္းသည္ ခ်မ္းသာ၏၊ မေကာင္းမႈကို မျပဳျခင္းသည္ ခ်မ္းသာ၏။

331. It is delightful having friends when an occasion arises; it is delightful having contentment with whatever being earned, it is delightful having virtue and a wholesome deed in the hour of death, and it is delightful having relinquished all misery (dukkhas) behind.

332. It is good in the world taking care of mother, also good taking care of father, a blessing too, is taking care of monks and bhikkhus, and moreover it is good taking care of Buddha and Arahants who already abandoned sins.

333. It is pleasant having virtue that lasts to old age, it is also pleasant having faith and generosity well-founded, also pleasant having attainment of wisdom, and is pleasant having refrained from doing all sins.

331 Atthamhi jatamhi sukha sahaya,
  tutthi sukha ya itaritarena,
  puññam sukham jivitasavkhayamhi,
  sabbassa dukkhassa sukham pahanam.

332 Sukha matteyyata loke,
  atho petteyyata sukha;

  atho brahmaññata sukha.
