ဘုရားအေလာင္းေတာ္ဟာ မဟာေဗာဓိပင္ကို ေနာက္ခံထားကာ အေရွ႕ဖက္ကို မ်က္ႏွာမူၿပီး ရတနာပလႅင္ေပၚတြင္ ထက္၀ယ္ဖြဲ႕ ေခြ ထိုင္ေတာ္မူခါ “ အေရ က်န္လုိက က်န္ပါေစ၊ အေၾကာက်န္လိုက က်န္ပါေစ၊ အရိုးက်န္လိုက က်န္ပါေစ၊ ငါတကိုယ္လံုး အသားေသြး ေတြ ခမ္းေျခာက္လိုက ခမ္းေျခာက္ပါေစ ဘုရားမျဖစ္သမွ် ဒီေနရာက မထေတာ့ၿပီ” လို႔ အဂၤါေလးပါးရွိတဲ့ ၀ီရိယတရားတို႔ျဖင့္ ထိုင္ေနေတာ္ မူပါေတာ့တယ္။ အဲဒီအခါမွာ သိၾကားအစရွိတဲ့ နတ္ျဗဟၼာမ်ားက ပူေဇာ္မႈအမ်ဳိးမ်ုဳိးတို႔ျဖင့္ ပူေဇာ္ၾကပါတယ္။(ပူေဇာ္ပံုကို မေရးေတာ့ၿပီ) ထိုအခါ ၀သ၀တၱီနတ္ျပည္သား မာရ္နတ္ဟာ နတ္စည္းစိမ္ကို စြန္႔ပယ္ၿပီး ဘုရားအေလာင္းေတာ္ ဒုကၠစရိယာ က်င့္စဥ္ကတည္းက ဘုရားအေလာင္းေတာ္ရဲ႕ စိတ္မွာ ဘယ္အခါ ကာမ၀ိတက္မ်ား ျဖစ္မလဲဆိုတာ အပင္ပန္းခံကာ ေစာင့္ၾကည့္ေနခဲ့ေပမဲ့ ဘာမွျဖစ္မလာခဲ့ဘူ။ “ဒီေန႔မွာေတာ့ ဘုရားအေလာင္းေတာ္ဟာ ေဗာဓိမ႑ိဳင္ကို ေရာက္ခဲ့ၿပီ၊ ငါ့ရဲ႕ ဘံုသံုးပါးဆိုတဲ့ နယ္ပယ္ကေန ဘယ္နည္းနဲ႔မွ အလြတ္ေျမာက္ မခံနိင္ဘူး” လို႔ ေတြးကာ ၀သ၀တၱီနတ္ျပည္က သူ႔အၿခံအရံ နတ္သားမ်ားကို ေခၚလာၿပီး “ အေမာင္တို႔…လက္နက္အမ်ဳိးမ်ဳိးယူၿပီး ဘုရားအေလာင္းေတာ္အား တိုက္ခုိက္ၾက” လုိ႔ ေျပာခဲ့သလို သူ႔ကိုယ္တိုင္ကလည္း ယူဇနာ ၁၅၀ ရွိတဲ့ ဂီရိေမခလာ ဆင္ကိုစီးကာ လက္ရံုးတစ္ေထာင္ကို ဖန္ဆင္းၿပီး၊ လက္ရံုးတစ္ခုမွာ လက္နက္တစ္မ်ဳိးျဖင့္ ယူေဆာင္လာခဲ့ပါတယ္။
ဒီအခ်ိန္တုန္းက မာရ္နတ္စစ္တပ္ႀကီးမွာ အလြန္မ်ားလွပါတယ္။ အေရွ႕ဖက္က ၁၂ ယူဇနာ၊ လက္၀ဲ ဖက္ ၁၂ ယူဇနာ၊လက္်ာ ဖက္ ၁၂ ယူဇနာ၊ အထက္ကို ၉ ယူဇနာအထုရွိ မ်ားျပားလွတဲ့ မာရ္နတ္စစ္သည္တို႔ျဖင့္ ေၾကာက္မက္ဖြယ္ရာပံုသ႑ာန္မ်ား ဖန္ဆင္းကာ ညာသံေပးၿပီး ဘုရားေလာင္းရွိရာ မဟာေဗာဓိမ႑ိဳင္သို႔ လာခဲ့ၾကပါတယ္။ မ်ားျပားလွတဲ့ မာရ္နတ္စစ္သည္မ်ား ခ်ီတက္လာတဲ့အခါ ဘုရားအေလာင္းအား ပူေဇာ္ေနၾကတဲ့ နတ္မ်ားအနက္ သိၾကားမင္းဟာ ေနရာမွာ ရပ္တည္မနိုင္ေတာ့ဘဲ ခရုသင္းကို ေက်ာမွာ ပိုးၿပီး ေျပးလႊားကာ စႀကၤာ၀ဠာအနားေရးမွာ ရပ္ေနရပါတယ္။ ျဗဟၼာမင္းကေတာ့ ဒီေနရာမွာ မေနနိုင္ေတာ့ဘဲ ထီးျဖဴကို စႀကၤ၀ဠာတိုက္စြန္းမွာ ပစ္ခ်ခဲ့ကာျဗဟၼာ့ျပည္ကို ျပန္သြားခဲ့ပါတယ္။ ေနာက္ဆံုး မဟာေဗာဓိမွာ ဘုရားအေလာင္းေတာ္ တစ္ပါးတည္းသာ က်န္ခဲ့ေတာ့တယ္။ မာရ္နတ္ကလည္း တုိက္ခိုက္ရန္အတြက္ ေရွ႕ေနာက္၀ဲယာမွ မ်ားျပားလွတဲ့ စစ္သည္မ်ားကို “ရဟန္းေဂါတမကို တိုက္ၾက” လို႔ အမိန္႔ေပးပါတယ္။ အဲဒီမွာ ဘုရားအေလာင္းေတာ္ဟာ ျဖည့္က်င့္လာခဲ့တဲ့ ပါရမီကုသုိလ္မ်ားကို ဆင္ျခင္စဥ္းစားေနပါေတာ့တယ္။ မာရ္နတ္မ်ားဟာ ဘယ္ေလာက္ပင္ တိုက္ခိုက္ပါေသာ္လည္း ဘုရားအေလာင္းေတာ္ရဲ႕ ပါရမီကုသုိလ္ေတာ္ကို မယွဥ္နုိင္တဲ့အတြက္ တိုက္ခိုက္တိုင္း ေနာက္ျပန္ဆုတ္လာခဲ့ရပါတယ္။
မာရ္နတ္စစ္သည္တို႔ ျပဳလုပ္သမွ်ေသာ အရာမွန္သမွ်ကို ဘုရားအေလာင္းေတာ္က ေမတၱာ ေတာ္အစြမ္းနဲ႔ ပယ္ရွားေတာ္မူခဲ့ပါတယ္။ (မာရ္နတ္တိုက္ခိုက္ပုံအက်ယ္ကို မေျပာေတာ့ၿပီ) ေနာက္ဆံုးမွာ မာရ္နတ္အေပါင္းဟာ ၀သ၀တၱီနတ္ျပည္ကို ေျပးရပါေလေတာ့တယ္။ ဒါဟာ ဘုရားရွင္က ၀သ၀တၱီနတ္ျပည္သား မာရ္နတ္တို႔ကို ေအာင္ျမင္ပံု၊ ပထမေအာင္ျခင္းျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ (မဟာဗုဒၶ၀င္ ဒုတိယတြဲ ႏွာ-၂၈၂ မွ ၂၉၀)
ဇယမဂၤလာ ေအာင္ဂါထာ
(၁) ဗာဟံုသဟႆ မဘိနိမၼိတ သာ၀ုဓႏၱံ
ဂိရိေမခလံ ဥဒိတေဃာရံ သေသနမာရံ
ဒါနာဒိဓမၼ၀ိဓိနာ ဇိတ၀ါ မုနိေႏၵာ
တံေတဇသာ ဘ၀တု ေမ ဇယမဂၤလဂၢံ။
Riding on the back of Girimekhala, his celestial elephant, thousand-armed Mara, each hand brandishing a deadly weapon, advanced at noon with an incredibly large army toward the Bodhisatta Buddha-to-be to drive him from his seat under the Bodhi tree.
Mara tried nine different weapons from his arsenal--a tornado, heavy rain, showers of hot rocks, various missiles, embers, hot ashes, hot sand, and hot mud, and complete darkness--all in vain. Then he threw his last great weapon, a sharp, spinning blade, but again with no effect.
At last, Mara claimed the Bodhisatta's seat for himself, but the Bodhisatta asked, "Mara, do you have any witness of your greatness?
Certainly Mara replied, and he pointed to his soldiers who shouted, We are witnesses
What witness do you have? Mara asked in return.
Not even counting other existences, the Bodhisatta calmly answered, but recalling just a fraction of the meritorious deeds I performed when reborn as Vessantara, this great earth will be my witness that I have fulfilled the ten Paramis merits. As the Bodhisatta pointed to the ground, the earth roared so loudly that the elephant Girimekhala dropped to its knees, and Mara's whole army fled in panic even before the sun had set.

1. Bahum sahassam-abhinimmita sayudham tam
Girimekhalam uditaghora sasenamaram
Danadidhammavidhina jitava munindo
Tam tejasa bhavatu te jayamangalani.
